Friday Freebies

I received a generous Shop Rite gift card for Christmas. I went last Friday to get a few things.

The meat manager was marking meat down, so I hung around to see what was a good deal. I got 2 packages of Italian sausage, 1 hot and 1 sweet. They ended up being $1.74 a pound. I also got YD 2 boxes of GF snacks that she can try. Everything was on sale except for the milk. Just because I have free money to spend doesn't mean I want to waste it.

We did dinner on Saturday at my sister's house to celebrate my Dad's birthday. I cam home with some jars that my mom passed along.

My mom had gotten a $10 reward to JCPenny's and used it on my son.  He can wear these type of socks to work.

My sister sent us home with leftovers. My mom gave me another container of donuts that I love too.

My son brought goodies home from work twice. I was sleeping one night so I didn't get a picture.

We have also been getting the free bagel everyday.

I went to breakfast with a bunch of girlfriends one morning there. I had my free bagel as my breakfast. One of my friends had a free bagel on her card too and didn't know about it. She was very excited.

I got gas and they are having a promo that you get a free hot drink with any purchase. I got a large hot chocolate.

I stopped in at Stop & Shop to get a freebie that was downloaded onto my card. I wanted to look at their holiday clearance. It was still 50% off. No thanks. Hubby was happy to take the bar with him to work.

Yesterday I went back to Shop Rite to use more of my gift card. I got more milk (the kids and I drink it a lot), GF pizza crusts for YD and everything else was on sale. There is still more money on the card. I want to see how long I can stretch it out.

I went out to dinner with 2 of my old co-workers. We went to Cheesecake Factory and had a great time. I had a gift card so I only had to leave a tip. I brought home a bunch of leftovers and my son and I ate them the next day for lunch.

I went  to see 2 free movies this week with my work passes. YD and I went and saw Mary Poppins. Hubby, YD and I went to see Aquaman. We had a good time at both.

What freebies did you get this week?

  1. Gluten free is expensive so I can see where you take advantage of the discounts.

  3. What a great week you had of freebies Mcoia :).

We also had a good week of freebies too which were -

    - 3 dozen eggs from a friend who's hens are produce too many for her family. We picked them up after a doctor's appointment in town as we go almost right past their home on the way home.
    - around 5 kg of cherry tomatoes, 1kg of cucumbers, 500 g of string beans and 500g of Chinese egg plants from our neighbour who was overrun with them. We washed and froze the tomatoes and also used them fresh to fry with onions for meals and the cucumbers for side salads and sandwiches.
    - About 500g each of whiting and cod fillets from our next door neighbour. Her, her boyfriend and family are into fishing in a big way and they give her lots of fish but she doesn't eat much of it.
    - While in town I picked up a 600 ml bottle of thickened cream on special saving 0.85c on usual prices.

Have a great week ahead everyone :).

    1. I am so jealous. Fresh homegrown tomatoes are so much better then store bought. I won't have any for at least 6 months. You have some great friends and neighbors giving you all of that food. I'm glad its not going to waste. Enjoy the fish. We love fish but it gets very expensive.

  4. Thank you and yes we have very good neighbours which is lovely.

We will enjoy the fish indeed as it costs a lot here as well to purchase at about $15 plus per kg to buy in the shops and cod is approaching mid $20 per kg. Our neighbour said when she visits family shortly she will bring us a whole lot of whiting back for us for free too. Truly we are blessed.

  5. I didn’t get any freebies this week as I’ve been home with a bad cold all week so no shopping.
I did try out Walmart grocery pickup for the first time. I had a $10/50 code from my daughter and she also got $10 for me trying it through her referral. I liked it and may do it again when needed but I can’t use coupons or see what’s on the clearance. But it is a big time saver!

I am always especially jealous of your Panera things your son brings home.

    1. Feel better. I have never tried the grocery pickup before. My friend used Peapod a lot while she had breast cancer and it helped her a lot. I can see how it is useful when you are not feeling well.

I will miss it when the times comes that my son doesn't work there. I may be able to lose some weight then. It is hard having all of the food in the house. I do pass lots of it along to other people.
