Adding to my Pantry
I haven't done one of these posts in a while. They were getting kind of boring for me so I thought they might be getting boring for you. My Stop & Shop is being redone so they have been having some great marked down items. They have been keeping extra shelves in the front of the store for it to be easier to find. That means more people are buying stuff. Good for the store but not great for me. Since I am not working anymore, I wasn't going in as often since I don't drive bye there everyday. I have been making it a habit to stop in every few days and look. I have not left empty handed once. The shelves in my food storage are really filling up which makes me very happy.
I wanted to get a few items that were on sale so I went in today. Chicken cutlets were on sale for $1.69 a pound. I got 5 packs. 2 of them were reduced to $1.49 a pound with a store coupon. That is much cheaper then any cold cuts that I can get. Hubby and the kids are happy to eat them for easy lunches. I grill up a bunch at one time. They are also good for chicken salad.
Grapes were on sale with a store coupon for 88¢ a pound limit 5 pounds. That is what I got.
The new Blueberry Cheerios were on sale for 99¢ each, limit 4. I try to keep cereal at a $1 a box or below. These are perfect.
I always scan the meat department for mark downs. They had ground beef reduced. We are not picky about 80/20 or 90/10 so I buy what is on sale. This pack was marked down to $6.59 which made it $1.74 a pound.
The 28 oz cans of baked beans were marked down to 37¢ each. I bought all they had, 8. The best by date was May 2021. All of the dates were far off for the marked down items.
Next was fruit cocktail for 39¢ for a 15 oz can. I got the 6 that were left.
I grabbed these for YD.
I wish they had more but they only had the one box. She loves these.
I got lots of ice cream sundae toppings. These are my favorite nuts so I bought all 6. We love ice cream and these will make it even better. I see lots of summers with cheap ice cream sundaes. They were 67¢ for the nuts and 69¢ for all the other toppings.
I got peppermint extract and orange extract for $1.09 each, coffee extract for 74¢ and 3 mustards for 77¢each.
I love Dove products but they are not cheap. Even with coupons they are usually out of my price range.
It was marked $1.37. Perfect
These lemon treats were marked 99¢. Hubby tried them and really liked them so I want to see if they still have them tomorrow.
That was everything I got today. Not a bad haul. If I get other great deals I will let you know. I love when my freezer and pantry are full. I really love it when I do it with items that are 50-90% off. I am going to go check Ibotta to see if anything has a rebate.
Have you gotten any great deals or sales recently?
I haven't been shopping much lately. However, my hubby picked up some vegetable juice from a salvage store called Wheeler Dealer for 99c/container and we had Patsy run in for 2--18 count cartons of eggs for $1.50/carton. I will do some shopping this weekend before Easter, but I don't need a whole lot at this point. Who knows what I will think I need once I go into the store, though:)
ReplyDeleteThat is a good price for eggs. Eggs here have been expensive. Usually the week before Easter, eggs go on sale. Not this year. they raised the price. Last year they were 88¢ for 18 count at Target. I got 10. I looked the other day and they were $3.29. You can keep them. I will got to Dollar Tree for a dozen medium for $1. Have a wonderful Easter.
DeleteThey are really good bargains Mcoia and it pays us to pick up on bargains when we see them and stock up the pantry/freezer/fridges too as it saves so much money in the long term.
ReplyDeleteSee if I can remember what I have picked up in bargains recently -
- Near on 4kg of beef mince for $5.24 kg, usually $9 kg here.
- 4.34 kg of rump steak for $8 kg, usually $23 kg here in Australia.
- 4 kg of chicken drumsticks for $1.99 kg , usually $3.99 - $4.99 kg.
- 6 kg of beef sausages reduced by 0.70c per kg.
- 5kg of citric acid from an online wholesaler for $33, saving $133.66 on buying it in small containers in the supermarket. We use it for cleaning toilets, baths, kettles etc.
- Our usual large supermarket was having an online special on all of their branded frozen products which made them cheaper than generic ones. We purchased 2 x 4lts of our favourite ice-cream usually too high in price for us to buy, 3 kg of frozen blueberries, 1 x 400g frozen passionfruit pulp, 4 x 500g pkts frozen peas, corn and capsicum, 2 x pkts cocktail spring rolls saving $29.50 on usual prices.
- 3 x half priced packets of sultana bran cereal saving $10.47 on usual prices.
- From an online retailer I did a bulk order for cocoa powder, desiccated coconut, cashew nuts, walnuts, mild curry powder and cinnamon powder saving $134.10 on usual supermarket prices buying them in smaller quantities including the delivery cost we paid.
- Recently we bought 2 more 4lt containers of ice-cream in our favourite brand from a small country supermarket saving $5.50 on usual prices.
- Kitchen related but not groceries we purchased a secondhand hardly used easiyo yoghurt maker from an op shop saving us around $24 on buying one new and a secondhand breadmaker for $5 electrician tested.
- On our most recent staples top up from our large supermarket I combined specials, $10 off supermarket rewards on my card and coupled those with 5% off using our roadside assist grocery gift cards to save a total of $28.15.
- Saw tinned cream of mushroom and chicken soups on 41% off special in our favourite Campbells brand and purchased 24 tins of each saving $34.08 on usual prices.
Finally we have caught up with what we were out of after we bought and moved into our new home as we hadn't bought staples or tinned goods for 3 months :o . Got to say we are looking forward to our normal grocery shopping in the middle of next month as we are sick of going grocery shopping.
Not to say we won't keep our eye out for other specials though on things that we use though : ) .
Have a great week ahead and hope everyone has been able to stock up with things on special this week.

Glad your supplies are back to the levels that you like them. You got some great deals.
DeleteAll the Stop and Shops here in Connecticut are on strike so I have been avoiding ALL grocery stores like the plague at the moment. Every other grocery store I have driven by (or HAD to go into) has been nuts because either the Stop and Shop nearby is closed or people don't want to cross the picket lines.
ReplyDeleteI have family in Connecticut and they told me Stop & Shops are on strike. Are they all owned by the same company? Strange that ours aren't on strike. Ours just took over all of the King Kullens. They are doing one store at a time for renovations so you know I will be going to the one with the construction for more great deals.
DeleteThose are some great buys, I wish I could find them here!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do too. I always hit up the stores that are remodeling or closing for great deals. After Easter will be another great time. Cheap candy and hams.
DeleteStores have been selling miscut chicken for .69 cents a pound. If you look at the bag carefully you can get good chicken. My hens have been laying well so it's been cheap in the egg departement. Found coffee for half price!and that's about it for this week.
ReplyDeleteI always grab the coffee when it is marked down. I did get some last week for Mother's Day presents. My sister's love their pumpkin spice. 69¢ for chicken is amazing. I don't care if it is cut funny. You should see how bad I do and we still eat it.
DeleteWow! You did amazing on those marked down!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
