Friday Freebies


Did you get your free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's? I sure did. I love that they got rid of plastic spoons. 


My sister dropped Lip off for the week.She also brought some treats for the puppies.


She also brought a slightly used coat.


Hubby got a free magazine in the mail. We get several magazines and we don't pay for any of them. We always pass them on when we are done. 


I got a free coupon in the mail. 


My neighbor gave us more free cheese. I shredded this one in the food processor and froze it for easy omelets or quesadillas.


My son brought home lots of extras from work this week.  


He was also named associate of the month. He received a bonus and a voucher for 2 dinners at any of the companies restaurants.  

We also received a ton of freebies from the college YD will be going to this Fall. She received a cinch sack, reusable water bottle and t-shirt when we arrived. Then there was a very nice lunch included. We took extra snacks and drinks to help us get through the rest of the day. We walked all over the college. There were booths set up everywhere and most of them had free hand outs. In total we received another t-shirt, an over the shoulder bag, a stress ball, a cup, a magnetic clip, a key chain, a lanyard, 3 Chapsticks, 2 band aid holders with band aids, 2 notepads, 5 pens, a phone wallet and a calendar.

    Such nice freebies! I was able to get two free bottles of water and a free orange juice.

    Mcoia you did really well and the freebies from the university were a bonus too and good that your son is recognised for his hard work too :) .

    This week our freebies were -

    - 2 cooked mud crabs from our neighbour and 3 rockmelons.
    - $15 of free dollars to spend on groceries by buying our roadside assist club gift cards. We did our shopping and topped up the home again on groceries.
    - and finally 2 dozen eggs from a friend that had too many from her chickens.

      I think you know them as canteloupes in the U.S but here in Australia we call them rockmelons :).

I Quit My Job!

I have been working at a movie theater for the past 13 years. I started when my YD was still at home. I had been babysitting a friend's daughter and she had started school. We needed the money so I got a part time job there for nights and weekends. It worked for us because Hubby watched the kids. I didn't have to pay anyone and I didn't want a stranger watching my kids. When YD started school, I transitioned from nights to days. But I still had to work weekends and holidays.  The movie theater is open 365 days a year. We have only been closed on 1 day since I started, Super Storm Sandy and that was because the state mandated it. We are open every holiday, every snow storm, everyday. When I took the job, I knew that. I signed paperwork saying I would work weekends and holidays, that I had a reliable car and could get there in any weather.  13 years is a long time. I have seen many changes there over the years, some good, mostly bad. There are only 7 people in the theater...
