Happy New Year 2020
I hope everyone is having a wonderful New Year. Sorry for the long blog silence. All is well here, we have just been busy. Something had to give so I stopping blogging for a little while. Now that the holidays are over, I have more time. Hopefully I will be able to write more often.
2020 has lots of exciting things ahead. The biggest one being Oldest Daughter's wedding this summer. The venue is booked, the DJ and photographer are booked. The wedding dress is ordered and the first fitting is at the end of the month. YD already got her bridesmaid dress. We just found shoes so now we can take her for her fitting. I have looked at a few dresses but haven't found the one yet. Save the dates went out. My next project is planning the bridal shower. I am doing one in NY and OD's future MIL is doing one in Maryland. We think it will be easier that way.
Hubby and I made our budget for the year. We did great in 2019. We are paying for part of the wedding, for the bridal shower, all of the costs for us to go to the wedding out of state and our youngest daughter's college costs. Thankfully we have been saving for a while and live below our means.
To start the year off with some $ savings, we have decided to do a $100 grocery challenge this month. The freezers are full, my pantry is packed so we should be fine. The money is for fresh dairy, fresh fruits, fresh vegetables and amazing clearance. Oreo's food isn't included in our grocery budget but I have plenty of food for her too so I won't be buying her any either. If you are looking to save some money this year, come join me. You make up the rules for your household. Lets see how much money we can save.

Happy New Year to you and your family!
ReplyDeleteHey you. So glad to see you back posting. Missed you and your updates.
ReplyDeleteSounds like quite an exciting year for you and your family. I look forward to reading and joining along. Happy New Year.
Thank you. It is a very exciting time.
DeleteHappy New Year.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteHappy New Year to you and yours too and glad to see you back and posting :). What an exciting time for your family. We also have been very busy here.
ReplyDeleteLikewise we have full pantries and freezers here after picking up so many bargains before Christmas and into the New Year. I think we will be about $100 or slightly more under budget for this months groceries but would be over the $100 grocery challenge amount. I will keep you updated on our saving at the end of the month though.
Have a great week ahead :).

I hope you are alright from all of the fires. The news keeps showing the devastation. You have been in my prayers.
DeleteThank you for your prayers Marybeth :) . Most of the worst fires have been in NSW and we are in Queensland. We have had some near us about 30 km one way and 60 km the other way though but so far none closer to us thank goodness :). It is still very dry and we are in drought so it is a worry and we are on Emergency water restrictions of 80 litres per person per day but we are blessed to have a good supply of rainwater in our rainwater tanks to run most of our home with. Some of the home being the downstairs toilet and cold water in the vanity and shower run off town water as does the yard. The rest of our home runs on rainwater solely from our tanks.
DeleteWe are praying for the many who have lost their homes, loved ones and farm livelihoods through both the droughts and bush fires here.
Have a great week ahead :).
