Ice Cracking


Hubby and I went away for a long weekend with another couple. We would walk down to the lake everyday.


It was so quiet. The only noise was the ice cracking.



It was so peaceful.


I can't wait to go back.

      It is so different from where I live. It is never quiet on Long Island. And the stars are so bright by the lake.

      The weather is cold then warms up a little so the ice shifts and cracks. It is cool to see.

    Oh wow, that is so beautiful. I remember seeing Lake Michigan from the city of Chicago. The waves would be up so high and just freeze that way. It was a beautiful sight.

I Quit My Job!

I have been working at a movie theater for the past 13 years. I started when my YD was still at home. I had been babysitting a friend's daughter and she had started school. We needed the money so I got a part time job there for nights and weekends. It worked for us because Hubby watched the kids. I didn't have to pay anyone and I didn't want a stranger watching my kids. When YD started school, I transitioned from nights to days. But I still had to work weekends and holidays.  The movie theater is open 365 days a year. We have only been closed on 1 day since I started, Super Storm Sandy and that was because the state mandated it. We are open every holiday, every snow storm, everyday. When I took the job, I knew that. I signed paperwork saying I would work weekends and holidays, that I had a reliable car and could get there in any weather.  13 years is a long time. My Frugal List: Week of March 18, 2018

  It has been a weird week. We had snow midweek. School let out early Wednesday and was closed on Thursday. However my job was not closed (I work at a movie theater part time). Super Storm Sandy is the only time I remember my job being closed. They will close and hour or 2 early but that is it. Luckily Hubby has a 4 wheel drive truck and loves me enough to drive/pick me up from work. Both days were quiet at work so I did get to catch up on paperwork.   The snow was beautiful but now it is almost all gone. Temps were in the 40's Friday and Saturday so things seem to be warming up. I'm hoping to get some peas planted this week but I'm not sure if Mother Nature is going to let that happen. We had some of Hubby's cousins from out of state come for a visit.
