College Move Out

Image
The college that we live near is ending this week. The kids are all moving out for the summer. Most of the kids that dorm there do not live near by. They can only fit so much in their cars. Many take buses, trains and even planes to get home which makes what they can bring home even less. It is the perfect time for Hubby and me to go garbage picking.  Hubby and I will not go into the dumpsters. We are not in our 20's and have no interest in doing that(unless I see a pile of money and then all bets are off). We also won't fight for stuff. If other people are going through stuff, we move on. We wear work gloves because lets be honest, some of the stuff is gross. We are not interested in items missing pieces or broken. We are looking for things that we can have a quick turnover with and make some quick money. We go in Hubby's truck because it is easy to grab and throw stuff into the bed. If it gets dirty we don't care, we can wash it easily.  So lets see what we g...

Friday Freebies.

This time of year there is always a coupon for free Matzos. I am not Jewish but I still like them with jelly.  I printed these 2 coupons up.  My Stop & Shop had them. They are dairy free and gluten free. Perfect for our house.  I got this free with a coupon too. Stop & Shop is very good about coupons. They don't carry the brand that was the coupon so they swapped this out. YD took it for lunch the next day. She kept the container for future lunches.  I picked up a free yogurt that I had a digital coupon for.  Petco sent me a survey and I got a $5 GC for doing it.  YD brought home leftover pizza from a meeting at school. My son happily ate it.  Hubby went away for several days for work. He gets meals reimbursed. So he ate out for several days. He brought half a hero home. He had it for lunch the next day.  Hubby stayed at a Double Tree. They give out cookies every day. He ...

My Frugal List: Beginning of April 2019

It has been so busy the last few weeks. All good stuff but busy. The most important thing that happened is OD got  engaged . We are so happy for them. Since that means there is a wedding in the future, lets look at some ways I saved money recently.  We celebrated Easter early with OD and her BF. We always do an egg hunt. They were finding them for days after we left. We went to an event at the college YD will be attending this August while we were in Maryland. We slept at OD's apartment (thanks). We brought Long Island bagels with us and had them for breakfast both days. We packed cold cuts and made sandwiches for lunch while driving both ways. We had lunch at the college(it was included). We did treat OD to take out while we were there for dinner. It was short but we sure packed a lot in.  Hubby and I made Ruby a welcome to the family present. We used items that we already had, so it cost $0 to make. I did add a bag of treats that I bought with a cou...
