Friday Freebies for the end of October

Sorry I haven't been around a lot lately. We have been busy. We went to Massachusetts last weekend to visit Hubby's family. His cousin had surgery and his uncle can't travel so we went to visit them.  His Aunt G spoils Hubby. She made him a pasta pie. She does when ever we see her. He loves them.  She gave me these 2 kitchen towels that she makes to use for Christmas. She made matching pot holders with them. I love them. We ate all meals with his family so we didn't have to pay for any. We did bring some gifts and wine for them.  The garden is still giving me goodies. The kale is back. I picked my first batch yesterday. It went right into the freezer.  P gives me his older fruit that he isn't going to eat. I froze them for smoothies.  I went to the bank and took 2 lollipops for P. He loves candy but shouldn't have a lot.  P treated me to lunch. I brought home half of my salad and my son took it to work the ne...

Friday Freebies (on Sunday)

Sorry this is so late. I didn't have internet for several days. Verizon came and replaced the old equipment and now it is working great. Lets get onto what I got free this week.  Hubby and I helped at a  fundraiser  for  his work. We won several baskets, a door prize and we were given leftovers. Hubby was also comped a ticket since he volunteered. I don't work for the company so I had to pay. Even though I bought the raffle tickets, I look at them as a donation. It doesn't guarantee me that I will leave with anything. That is why I consider the baskets free. I won a Stop & Shop gift card basket and a basket from Target. We returned the stuff to Target and bought some items that we could use.  Hubby got some pants for work that he has been needing.  And we got groceries. I still have lots left on the gift card.  They were also giving out lots of samples. I did go back later in the week. We needed more milk an...

Old Westbury Gardens Part 2

So I showed you some of the  gardens last week. He are some more.  Does anyone know what these yellow flowers are called? I have never seen them before but I love them.  All of the tulips were in bloom.  They were everywhere. They had so many different colors. I also loved all of the stone walls that divided the different gardens. Some of the trees were in bloom too and they were gorgeous.  Purple is my favorite color so I spotted these beauties from far away. Anybody know what these curly things are? They had tons of them. I assume they weren't fully bloomed yet.  I don't know my flowers the way I know my vegetable plants.  It really was a beautiful palace. I would say about half of the flowers were in bloom. Online reviews talked about all of the rose gardens so I hope to get back to see them soon.

Lets look at what I got free this week. I love freebies.  Hubby, YD and I went to  Old Westbury Gardens  last weekend with a library pass. We brought a picnic so all we spent was the gas to get there and home. We had a great time and are looking to go back when the roses are all in bloom. I already signed up for several passes for this summer. Free outings are the best.  It was a dog day when we went there. Booths were set up selling items and doing raffles. We wanted to look at everything for Oreo, Lip and Ruby. We each got a free sample of dog food.  Later that day we went to Lowe's. They had a special that if you texted the word Spring to them you got a coupon. We all got $5 off any purchase. We went and bought some items we needed for the house. We broke it up into 3 orders so that we could each use our coupon.  My sister dropped Lip off for the week. She also gave us some stuff.  YD grabbed the bag. It is a v...

Old Westbury Gardens Part 1

Saturday morning youngest daughter, Hubby and I went to  Old Westbury Gardens  for the day. I had reserved the pass from the library back in February so it cost us nothing. I packed a picnic lunch and we were set.  I have been trying to get here with the kids the last few years but something has always come up so we haven't gotten there. This year we finally made it.  It was a beautiful sunny day. The wind was a little much at times but otherwise it was perfect.  YD wants my husband to build her a cottage like this for her. It was so cute.  I haven't been her since I was a kid and there was so much more then I remembered. It is about 40 minutes from our house but it was a great day trip. YD asked if we could come back this summer when the roses are all in bloom.  There were hidden jems all over the property. The flowers were beautiful but I love the architecture.  If you stood in the right spo...
