I keep telling you about all of the clearance shelves at Stop & Shop. I thought I would show you some pictures so you get a better idea. There have been up to 6 shelving units at one time. This is the last week and a half. I have been stopping in when I am near by to see what new items are out.  Some days there are shopping carts full of stuff that can't fit on the shelves so you have to dig through the stuff. The items are marked from 25-90 % off. Some of the prices are OK and some are amazing. You have to know your prices.  YD loves cranberry juice.  These were $1,24 each. I've never had pomegranate juice before but for 99¢ each we will try it. These shelf stable soy milks were 54¢ each. I admit I cleared the shelf. I bought all 32. A few days later there were more and I bought all 16. I usually can get 2 of Hubby's soy milks on sale for $5. These work out being $2.16 for the same quantity. Just on the soy milk I saved over $34. Hub...

Hubby and I went on a date to a free home show. We try to go every year. We get to see what new items have come out and we get to talk to several vendors for similar projects. It is held at a college nearby and has free parking and free admission. We brought our reusable water bottles and apples in case we got hungry. We even got some freebies. It was a nice way to spend the morning.  I went back to the eye doctor. My eye is doing so much better. The top layer is totally healed. The second layer (there are apparently 5 layers) is not fully healed yet. I have a second kind of drop now and I go back in 2 weeks.  My ear was bothering me so I put some drops that are homemade in it. It is 1 part vinegar to 1 part alcohol. My ENT told me about this years ago when I would constantly get swimmers ear. I do it twice a day for 3 days when I start to feel something. Most times it goes away.  The garden is still going well. I made another batch of sauce. I canned...

The garden is doing wonderful. Free veggies from my garden is the best. We have been eating them as fast as we can. My son and Hubby are burnt out on salads. But the lettuce is still going strong. The second set of seeds that I planted are doing great. We may not have any gaps in lettuce this year. Our peppers have gone crazy producing so I am using them up as fast as I can. They are being eaten fresh, I made lots of chili, chicken fajitas, and omelettes. I need to start chopping some up for the freezers for the winter. Cucumbers are doing great. I have been picking them every other day. There are so many baby ones on the vines. I am hoping to get enough to make pickles. I got my first tomatoes! They all will be turning red now so I look forward to making and canning sauce soon.  I did hit a few stores also this week. The coupon at BJs is ending this week so I went with my daughter. We got 2 more cases of black beans for 99¢ each. The cookies are for Hubby's desk at wo...

My Frugal List: Week of July 30, 2018

It was definitely an interesting week. I was scheduled to work my 2 regular days and then I was asked to work an additional 3 on short notice. 2 shifts I was asked the night before which is easy to juggle. 1 shift I got a text at 9:20 in the morning begging me to come in and how quick could I get there. Several kids had pulled no shows or called out and it was pouring rain. Since we didn't have plans and I couldn't work in the garden, I went in all day.  Even though I am tired, I will like the money when I get paid. Into the college fund. I did get fed the day I was called in on short notice. Our home office likes to do Break Room Surprises. They randomly select a building and get food catered for the day. I got there at 10 am and there were lots of donuts in the break room. At lunch time, I was asked to set up heroes. So I, of course, had some. When I was leaving , my manager was setting up more food for the next shift. She asked me if I wanted any of the lunch st...
