Making Cents Of It All

It has been a while since I have done one of these.  Last weeks freebie from Stop & Shop was this single serving of cake. I gave it to P (the gentlemen I help). It is the perfect size for him and he loves chocolate.  This is this weeks Stop & Shop freebie. Hubby loves dried apricots. Did you know that you can get a free Hallmark card on Fridays this month if you have their rewards card. P needed to get a birthday card for a friend's birthday. We went today and I got myself a free card. I did have to pay tax for it.  P and I went out for lunch. He loves to eat out. Part of our working agreement is he pays if we go out.  There is a Cheesecake Factory right near the card store so he wanted to go there. I ordered off the lunch menu. He insisted that I get a piece of cheesecake. I was full so I took it home.  The garden is still providing well.  I have been drying lots of herbs for the winter....

June 6th McDonalds is doing a special deal. Bring any foreign currency in from 2-5 pm and receive 1 free item per person from their Worldwide Favorites Menu. It was my birthday this week. I love freebies(who doesn't)so I thought I would tell you about all of the freebies I was sent. All of these are free to sign up so if you are in the USA you can get them all. You do have to put in your birthday to get them. I was emailed all of the freebies. I came across a free ad a few weeks ago for raspberry canes. The man had bought the vacant lot next to his house and it was covered in trees, weeds and lots of raspberry canes. I was lucky to see the ad about a half hour after he posted. I emailed him right away and he said there were boxes at his curb. Come and take whatever I wanted. It was about 8:30 at night but Hubby and I didn't want to miss out on free raspberries so we went then. When we arrived, there were several large boxes, garbage cans and tubs. The man had asked that we leave the cans behind but we could take the boxes. So we took 2 boxes. When we got home we left them in the bed of Hubby's truck covered. In the morning we got to work.  I started moving all of the canes into buckets of water. I carefully separated them to see how many we had. We got over 40. Petco sent me this email yesterday. I love free so I went on the way to bring YD to work. She is always up for a trip to Petco. She loves to play with the kittens. It took about 5 minutes and the gentlemen went over food choices for Oreo and Lip.  We settled on the senior dog food for Oreo and the salmon for Lip. They were originally $22.99 each. They were both on sale for $3 off this week but I got them free. The coupons were by the register and the gentleman that went over everything with me gave them to me.  I love the puppies but 4 pounds of dog food for $23 is way out of my price range. Glad I got it for free. Hurry, it is today and tomorrow only. You need a Petco card to get it but you can sign up in store if you don't. It is for cats too. Let me know if you get it. 

Yankee Candle has a rare coupon out. It is good March 23 and 24. $10 off $10 purchase. This coupon only happens once a year. 1 per person. Hubby, the kids and I will be running to get these. The big news of the week is Oldest Daughter paid off her last student loan. We are so proud of her. She is 25 and debt free. She has worked so hard to get here. Full story will hopefully be posted this week.  The laundry area is done except for the bar and curtain. We already bought the bar. We were going to get curtains on Sunday but my sister said she has several sets in her attic that we could have if we wanted. She dropped Lip off and had breakfast with us. She will be picking Lip up on Friday so she will bring the curtains too. I am all for saving money so we will happily look at what she has. I have been putting everything back onto the shelves. Hubby added a third shelf so I am trying to figure where to put everything. The 3rd shelf helped get some stuff off of the counters.
