Making Cents Of It All

Sorry this is so late. I didn't have internet for several days. Verizon came and replaced the old equipment and now it is working great. Lets get onto what I got free this week.  Hubby and I helped at a  fundraiser  for  his work. We won several baskets, a door prize and we were given leftovers. Hubby was also comped a ticket since he volunteered. I don't work for the company so I had to pay. Even though I bought the raffle tickets, I look at them as a donation. It doesn't guarantee me that I will leave with anything. That is why I consider the baskets free. I won a Stop & Shop gift card basket and a basket from Target. We returned the stuff to Target and bought some items that we could use.  Hubby got some pants for work that he has been needing.  And we got groceries. * This weather has been beautiful the last 2 days. Spring is really here. It is 65 and sunny. It is the perfect weather in my opinion. I am happy when I am in a t-shirt and jeans. I can work in the garden without a sweatshirt or sweating to death. I know it won't last long but right now it is making me so happy.  * Homemade pizza. Hubby wanted pizza so I made 2 doughs in my bread machine. I cooked a few sausage (that I got on sale) and used up some veggies that were in the drawer and freezer. I also made a cheese one for me. I whipped up a batch of focaccia bread for YD and made her a few slices of pizza on that. There is plenty leftover for an easy lunch. And it didn't cost us a small fortune to order out.  * Hubby took a few days off this week. He is getting lots of items checked off of the honey do list.  * Since Hubby is working hard around the house and yard, I made us milkshakes. He had dairy free strawberry and I had chocolate. I LOVE ice cream. Anyone that knows me knows that I love ice cream. I worked at an ice cream parlor when I was in high school and when I had OD. I worked at the ice cream section for several years at the movie theater. I can eat it in a blizzard, no problem. I found a flavor I will not be trying EVER.  Haagen Dazs, which is my favorite brand of ice cream, came out with a spirits line of ice cream. They have a maretto black cherry almond. Sounds OK. Then there is b ourbon vanilla bean truffle. I would try that. Next is b ourbon praline pecan ice cream. I would try that too. But stout chocolate pretzel crunch sounds gross. I hate beer so I thought maybe it is me. Well, I texted several people that like beer and they all responded Yuck or gross. So I don't think this flavor is going to be their new best seller.  So what do you think? Is this something that you have to try immediately? Are you going to run to the store after reading this and get it? Or are you like me think...

This time of year there is always a coupon for free Matzos. I am not Jewish but I still like them with jelly.  I printed these 2 coupons up.  My Stop & Shop had them. They are dairy free and gluten free. Perfect for our house.  I got this free with a coupon too. Stop & Shop is very good about coupons. They don't carry the brand that was the coupon so they swapped this out. YD took it for lunch the next day. She kept the container for future lunches.  I picked up a free yogurt that I had a digital coupon for.  Petco sent me a survey and I got a $5 GC for doing it.  YD brought home leftover pizza from a meeting at school. My son happily ate it.  Hubby went away for several days for work. He gets meals reimbursed. So he ate out for several days. He brought half a hero home. Did you get your free ice cream from Ben & Jerry's? I sure did. I love that they got rid of plastic spoons.  My sister dropped Lip off for the week.She also brought some treats for the puppies. She also brought a slightly used coat. Hubby got a free magazine in the mail. We get several magazines and we don't pay for any of them. We always pass them on when we are done.  I got a free coupon in the mail.  My neighbor gave us more free cheese. I shredded this one in the food processor and froze it for easy omelets or quesadillas. My son brought home lots of extras from work this week.   He was also named associate of the month. He received a bonus and a voucher for 2 dinners at any of the companies restaurants.   We also received a ton of freebies from the college YD will be going to this Fall.
