Garden Work Bench

Image
I hope everyone is doing OK. We have been outside as much as possible with all of this wonderful weather. Hubby made me a beautiful garden work bench. I just love it.  We already had everything. The wood is from the kid's old swing set and my sister's swing set that we took down for her.   All of the screws and hooks we had from other projects or yard sale purchases.  I already started using it. My tomatoes needing transplanting into larger pots.  We placed it near the small garden off of the patio. It fits perfectly.

A Bookshelf

Outside of youngest daughter's bedroom is an odd space. I wish I had taken a picture before she had cleaned it out. There was a small bookshelf, a small dresser and a box of art supplies. It was a cluttered mess.  We recently got a new to us dining room set. Hubby said the old table top would make great shelves.  So he got to work.  We already had the baskets.  YD put her art supplies in them.  We even made a shelf of just Harry Potter.  It sure is nice having a handy husband. We were able to get rid of 3 bookshelves from this one project. All hubby needed to buy was a piece of the support. Everything else we already had.

My Frugal List: Week of February 4, 2019

It was Hubby's birthday last week and we celebrated it several days. He loves carrot cake so I made him a dairy free one. YD does not like carrot cake so I didn't have to try and make a dairy free, gluten free one. Can you figure out how old he is? I made Hubby french toast with lots of bacon for breakfast and burgers with homemade waffle fries for dinner. The birthday person gets to pick what is on the menu on their birthday in our house. My son was treating Hubby to lunch on his birthday, so YD and I were having leftovers. Unfortunately, the restaurant they wanted was closed that day. So they had leftovers too. My son gave him an IOU for lunch another day. Hubby got lots of wonderful gifts. My sister took us out to eat during the week since she wouldn't be around on his actual birthday. Hubby really got spoiled this year. I pulled a turkey out of the freezer. It was one of the 39¢ ones I got around Thanksgiving. It was 20+ pounds. We did the full Th...

My Frugal List: Week of November 12, 2018

I was not feeling great this week. I had a cold, cough and sore throat. My throat is all better but I now have no voice which my kids think is great. I didn't go to the doctor. I used OTC medicines that I have gotten on sale/with coupons. I used the organic honey (that I bartered) in hot water with some lemon to ease my throat. I only called out from work for 1 shift.  We have been eating some frozen meals from the freezer. Before I got sick, I had cooked a large package of chicken thighs. Hubby used some of the leftover ones to make a big patch of chicken noodle soup. He used chicken broth and celery from the freezer. He also surprised me and bought me a quart of egg drop soup (my favorite) one day. Before I was sick, I cooked another pumpkin. I have been mixing some in with Oreo's food. It is great for her coat and she loves it.  We had plans to eat at a friend's house. I insisted that Hubby still go. He had a great time and they sent home a bunch...

Hubby and I went on a date to a free home show. We try to go every year. We get to see what new items have come out and we get to talk to several vendors for similar projects. It is held at a college nearby and has free parking and free admission. We brought our reusable water bottles and apples in case we got hungry. We even got some freebies. It was a nice way to spend the morning.  I went back to the eye doctor. My eye is doing so much better. The top layer is totally healed. The second layer (there are apparently 5 layers) is not fully healed yet. I have a second kind of drop now and I go back in 2 weeks.  My ear was bothering me so I put some drops that are homemade in it. It is 1 part vinegar to 1 part alcohol. My ENT told me about this years ago when I would constantly get swimmers ear. I do it twice a day for 3 days when I start to feel something. Most times it goes away.  The garden is still going well. I made another batch of sauce. I canned...
