  1. Enjoy the time away form your younger kids. It will be a time for relaxing a bit, because life will return to normal as soon as they are back.

  3. Hi Mcoia and think of the mischief you can get into being childless for a couple of weeks :) , good mischief that is. I love the way you break things down into smaller steps for saving which is what we do here :) like the saying "how do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time".

Here is our goals for the month of July -

    Financial -
    - Bank more money from my pay bonus to make our bank emergency up to $2000.
    - Save as much as we can for our home and land deposit by being frugal.
    - Deposit more money into our home emergency kitty fund.
    - Put in tax returns when our group certificates turn up in the mail.
    - Keep putting grocery and pantry stocking funds away in our high interest bearing bank account to earn interest until the e-vouchers come out to purchase 20% off face value vouchers on eBay for our supermarket.
    - Keep listing more items that are unlisted in the craft room for sale on eBay as I see free listing promotions come up.

    Food and groceries -
    - Have some meatless meals.
    - Rotate and use what is close to it's use by dates in the pantries, freezer and fridge in meals.
    - Keep stocking up on some needed groceries to reach a 12 month stocking level.
    - Find time to label food storage containers with chalk board stickers gradually.

    In the gardens -
    - Weed when necessary gradually throughout the month and mulch remaining vegetable garden beds.
    - Pick ripe vegetables and either blanch and freeze for future food or use fresh.
    - Harvest any ripe lavender and herbs and dry them, separate them and list them for sale and top up herb containers in the kitchen.
    - Plant more pea and turnip seeds.
    - Take pumpkins off the shed roof now they are seasoned and put them on the veranda for storage.
    - Keep using saved bath warm up water and clean dish rinsing water to water seedlings or fruit trees on the back veranda.
    - Continue watering the lawns with saved grey water from our showers and washing machine.

    General jobs -
    - Beat nails into submission (or back in :) ) on the wooden verandas and sweep them.
    - Go through the 3 bay garage and throw out excess papers, old reno items, cut and fold boxes neatly for storage and sweep the remainder in there.
    - Deep clean a room each week leading up to our next rental inspection.
    - Deep clean the refrigerator and wash the shelves and baskets out.

    Personal -
    - Keep studying and reading both the BOM and Bible and do scripture study, reading and chatting with a dear old friend in an aged care facility.
    - Take some time out to relax more.
    - Spend quality time with DH.

    Health -
    - Continue to be active in the gardens and by walking.

    1. That is a great list. I love the saying about the elephant. It is so true. That is how we got out of debt, one penny at a time. I hope you and I reach all of our goals this month.

  4. It will be nice for the two of you to have some time, and what an opportunity for the kids--Italy, WOW!

It is always strange for me to be without kids. I've been at it for over 30 years. In fact, my oldest daughter sent us a nice text reminding us it was the 30th anniversary of her adoption day a few days ago. My, how time has flown. I've had kids ever since. I have often wondered what it will feel like to be home alone regularly. But, I've got a few years before I need to worry much about that:)

    1. It will be very strange. They always have friends over too so the house is rarely quiet. I went from getting married to Hubby and he moved into my house with me and 4 sisters and my parents to moving into a tiny apartment with Hubby and OD as a baby to the house we are in with 3 kids. Hubby is looking forward to the quiet. It will just be different. Good thing I like Hubby so much.

My sister is single and has no children of her own. She actually invited my other nephew to go too but he declined. She has friends all over the world because of her travels and work. The are going to Venice for 4 days and staying with friends. The have kids similar ages to mine. YD went last year to their house with my sister for her 16 birthday present and another week throughout Italy. They are going to Rome to meet an online friend of my son's. They are going to Sorrento, Capri, and Naples too . They will have an amazing time.
