Adding to my Pantry
I am still not 100% and I am back to work. I wasn't up to running to stores on my way to and from work. We have been eating from my stockpile and fresh veggies from the garden. This week I have picked peas several times.
Peppers are starting to get picked. OD did pick a jalapeno and we throw it into the zucchini pies.
Several heads of lettuce were also picked.
I took OD to BJ's. She doesn't have a membership but I do. I treated her to the stuff she picked out. We also got some of her favorite items for her while she was here. BJ's total was $58.01. Some of it will end up going under gifts, I just haven't figured it out yet.
I did a run to Shop Rite because they were having some great sales because of the 4th of July.
So I ended up getting 3 Ajax detergents for 77¢ each, 2 Friendly's ice creams for $1.50 each, canned mushrooms, beans, cranberry and sauerkraut for 50¢ each, chocolate syrup for $1.88 each, olives 99¢ each, seltzer 3 for $1, corn for 19¢ each, hot dogs for $1.99, 8 oz blocks of cheddar for $1.88 each and 18 count eggs for 99¢. My total at Shop Rite was $66.76. The guy behind me in line couldn't believe it. He had about a dozen items and said his bill was going to be about that much.
I always love looking at how much I saved. I still have to do Ibotta for this transaction.
I closed out June grocery spending at $407.12. My total for the year is $2229.15. I still have an overage of $170.85. My monthly average is $371.52.

I have tiny tomatoes on my plants. I cannot wait for them to be ready. You are doing great. Keep up the good work.
DeleteI spent a ton of money the end of June, but added a lot to the pantry. I have begun a Keto diet and added things I did not already have. The initial cost was high, but they will last quite a while, since I will be using them n a sporadic basis.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on the diet. Let me know how you do on it. I don't count spending money for pantry items a bad thing. I consider it another emergency fund.
DeleteYou got a lot of pantry items in that load! Great job. As my mother always used to say--it's like putting money in the bank when you put low-cost groceries in your pantry:)
ReplyDeleteI consider it another type of emergency fund. Even when I have no money, I know we have food.
