Friday Freebies

When I dropped the kids to my sister's house for their trip to Italy, my sister gave me some flowers from her garden. They are beautiful shades of blues and purples.

She also gave me food that would not last for 2 weeks while they are away.

I had gotten $10 for my birthday from Bob's Stores that was going to expire. I was not feeling well so my son went. He couldn't find any clothes that he wanted so he got himself snacks instead. I guess that is better then letting it go to waste.

Our neighbor gave this to Hubby. They are still cleaning out their house for the big move.

We went to my nephew's graduation party. I was given some late presents for my birthday. I do love gift cards.

Hubby needed a tool from Harbor Freight so he used a free item coupon and got rags.

My Dad gave me a bag of dried oregano that he grew in his garden. I promise it is oregano. Hubby was afraid we would be pulled over and have to explain it.

I used an old Olive Garden gift card for Hubby and I. I had to pay 37¢ cash. I thought that was a very good price for me not to have to cook. We have a bunch of gift cards so I told Hubby we are going to splurge while the kids are away.

The garden is giving us lots of veggies; lettuce, peppers, peas and herbs.

My best presents were from OD. Her boyfriend gave me aluminium straws. She made me cloth produce bags. She also gave me this great sign. It is a Dave Ramsey saying.

What freebies did you get this week?

  2. Move to Oregon:). "Oregano" is legal here! Ha, ha. So, you wouldn't get in trouble here for your suspicious bag:).

Sadly, there is a marajuana store on every corner in our town. We don't use it, but many must, because there are SO many stores. However, we are noticing that they are starting to run sales, and advertise more that they have the lowest prices, and so forth, so maybe they flooded even that market!

    1. That is crazy. Where I live there is a Starbucks on every corner. I'll keep Starbucks.

    2. Don't be so quick to judge: I too, live in the land of legal marijuana. I have to pass by a local shop on my way home from town every day, and I am amazed at the clientele/cars in the parking lot. Let's just say, I'm sure it's not what most would think. I have some friends who are nurses, and they tell me many of the patrons of the local shop are seniors who have been referred by doctors to purchase the products for pain relief. The shop grounds are well lit, and well tended. Out of curiosity, I walked in to the shop one day. The staff was friendly, courteous, and seemed knowledgeable. (Since I don't partake, I can't really say.) Frankly, it's a lot nicer than any of the many fast food places cropping up like, well, weeds.

    3. I know someone that had throat cancer that was given some for pain relief. It really helped ease some of the pain for him. I'm sure their are all types of people that use it for lots of different reasons.

  3. Hi Mcoia and the weed (not being oregano) is still illegal in Australia so thankfully no corner weed stores here although like everywhere it is available to anyone who partakes of it illegally, is connected, and also in school grounds too.

Great pickup on the oregano and bench grinder and polisher too.

The freebies we have got this week are -

    - 5 free reusable plastic shopping bags as they are rotating to single use plastic free in all of the shops. Sadly there have been some retail staff attacked (choked) over the ban, and I can tell you that working in retail has never been easy from my experience and the poor staff get abused quite often :( ,especially during the Christmas season and after and before public holidays. I think most people think the world will end if the grocery store shuts for 1 day.

    - From the gardens we harvested lots of French and English lavender currently drying, marigold or calendula flowers for a trade, cherry tomatoes, beetroot and carrots. The beetroot and carrots we had for juices for lunch. We also separated 46 g of dried French lavender & 28 g of English lavender picked from the gardens also for a trade.

Have a fantastic week ahead everyone :).

    1. For some people it would feel like the end of the world if the stores were closed for a day. It amazes me how many people don't keep extra food and supplies on hand. When OD was home, we were talking about it. She recently moved in with her boyfriend. He finished a box of tissues and told her they needed to buy more. She went into a closet and pulled out a box. He was very impressed. They live in a very small apartment but she still manages to have some extras. You just have to make it a priority.

  4. Does a trade count? A guy mowed my yard in exchange for using my mower at his house.
