Adding to my Pantry

Hubby has been great about stopping at BJ's and getting the black beans. We have gotten 4 more cases. 8 total so far. I also went one day for a few items. The kids and I eat a lot of dairy. We love milk and cheese. Hubby can't have milk so the soy milk is for him.  BJs total for the week was $36.28

I went to Meat Farms and got fruit and bread. I was making BLTs since I was working late so we needed sandwich bread. My son has been eating cherries as fast as I buy them. Hubby and I are watching what we eat so I have been going through lots of fruits and veggies.  Love having the garden because I don't need to buy lots of veggies. We try to eat everything we grow. Cherries were $2.99 a pound, grapes were $1.49 a pound.  Meat Farms total was $16.88

This lot was from my sister. She was going away and gave me all of this so it wouldn't go bad. We are happy to take it. The cheese is wonderful.

I did great at Stop & Shop. I got one of the detergents for free with a store coupon, the other I got for $1.49. The juices were $2 each. The Arizona were $1.88. We will use them when we go away. The shrimp was regularly $23.98. It was on sale for $11.98. I had a $2 off $10 seafood coupon. I got the cookies for $1.49 with a coupon. They are Hubby's favorite. The strawberries were also $1.49 with a coupon. I had a $5 off $25 order. Before coupons my total was $56.81. After coupons it was $21.58. I also did rebates on Ibotta.

The garden is doing great. Cucumbers have been getting picked. We have been eating them as fast as they grow. There are tons of little ones and flowers so I hope I get enough to make dill pickles. We are still eating lots of lettuce. My peas are winding down so I will be pulling them soon and replanting for a fall crop. String beans are starting. I have been picking a few everyday so I finally got enough for a meal. Peppers are doing great and they have been getting eaten raw and in any meal that I can put them in. Lots of peppers and eggs.

My total for the week was $74.74. My total for the month was $424.16. I also cashed out Ibotta for $52.14. I add that back into my grocery budget for the year. So my new total is $372.02. My total for 2018 is $2601.17. My monthly average is $371.59. I have $198.83 excess to still spend.

What did you add to your pantry this week?

Comments

  1. We shop on Saturday, and don't buy outside of that (mostly schedule related), but over the weekend, I did clear a bunch of tomatoes out of the freezer & make 2 liters of fresh tomato sauce, and divided into smaller portions for the freezer for easy dinners.

  2. I added mostly cleaning products from Dollar General and CVS.
    You did great!

  4. Hi. I love your blog & have been reading since you started.
We are in PA. I know you are in NY, we were just up to the finger lakes last week, such a beautiful area! Are you anywhere near them?
Thank You for posting about the BJ's black bean coupon. Unfortunately our BJs does not have
that coupon. We don't use many but I thought they would be a great way to stock up for a food pantry donation.
I have gotten a few ibotta rebates lately that I probably would have missed if you had not mentioned them, thank you for that!
I have not done any grocery shopping yet this week, so no pantry additions to report.

    1. We live on Long Island. That stinks that your BJs didn't have the coupon. Someone else in Florida said theirs did. Glad I could help with Ibotta . Every penny counts. Hope you had a nice time while you were away.

  5. Great going on the grocery bill for the month. I love that you are stocking up on the beans - they are so good for mixing in things and making healthy bean burgers. Great protein. Nice on the freebies from sis.

We watch what we eat as well - every last bite!!!!!! LOL
    Love using garden produce.
    Keep up the good work.

  7. Hi Mcoia and you are doing so well and under your grocery budget like me I know you will be thrilled :) . All the produce from our gardens certainly keeps the costs down as well of course as a lovely sister blessing you with so much lovely food.

Again we still did not shop instead waiting for our discount grocery e-vouchers coming in later this month or early next month. It is really great to have a well stocked pantry so we don't have to shop often.

We did however get a lot of things from the gardens and were blessed by a friend's kindness -

    - A friend who has a property had too many eggs so he gifted us 3 dozen free range eggs from his chickens. We were about to go shopping for them as we were almost out when we saw him and asked if we wanted some.
    - 2.5kg of cherry tomatoes we used both fresh and froze some after washing them in meal sized portions.
    - Also picked and dried from the gardens we separated out more thyme making 495 g.
    - Pruned our fresh rosemary and have all of the trimmings drying ready for sale and home use.
    - We also collected 110 stems of English lavender and 10 stems of French lavender from the gardens we are also drying.

Have a wonderful week ahead everyone :).

    1. Don't you love it when things like that happen. You were almost out of eggs and a friend offered you some. That always makes my day. My sister is very generous. She will go food shopping and plan to make food but then gets offers to go out, so she does. Instead of wasting it she usually gives it to us. The block of cheese was from our friends son visiting and she told me to take it.

i hope the vouchers are available soon so that you don't run out of too much. That garden of yours just keeps giving. Great job. Have a wonderful week.
