Welcome to the Family.

I would like to introduce you all to Ruby, my granddogger. OD and her BF got her on Tuesday night. They had applied to adopt a dog in January, were approved and fell head over heals in love with her. She is a one year old hound mix with maybe some sheppard in her. She was in a foster program.

She is so very sweet but very underweight. Unfortunately, Ruby was very neglected. She was severally under weight when she was found. She is doing much better but still underweight.

They adopted her through Operation Paws for Homes. They are in the Maryland, DC, Virginia and Pennsylvania areas if you are looking to adopt.

As you can see, she was near starving when they got a hold of her.

With some love and attention she is already flourishing.

We cannot wait to meet her in person. OD just finished paying off her student loans and Ruby is her present to herself. OD and her BF have wanted a dog for so long. We have always had a dog so OD grew up with Oreo and Leia. They are going to be wonderful parents to Ruby. We already sent her some presents.

Welcome to the family Ruby. Welcome to your forever home.

    1. Those photos are from just 2 weeks ago. The difference is so drastic. She is going to be very spoiled. I can tell already.

  4. We just got a new puppy a few months back, too! She is adorable and annoying and hyper and cuddly, depending on the weather, and we are so glad to have her. :)

Thanks for your comments on my blog. It is encouraging to hear of woman like you who chose life and see the beauty of that choice in their daughters and sons!

    1. Thanks for visiting. Puppies are fun. Our dog(Oreo) is 13 and very mellow now. Just what I need at this point in my life. I am excited to play with Ruby but OD can deal with everything else. She is young and can handle it.

  5. She hit the doggy lottery as my vet would say.

    1. We are trying to figure out when we can meet her. YD isn't going to last long with some puppy time.

  7. You have made my day! I love it when people rescue dogs. They make the best pets because they appreciate the love. My little Scooter was a rescue and was also in sad shape when we got him. He is our best friend now (well, he is really my husbands best friend and worships the ground he walks on. I get to let him outside when he wants).

    1. Oreo, Lip and Leia were all rescues. I guess we only adopt rescues in our family. When we got Oreo she was sick and on medicine. They asked us if we would be able to give her a pill twice a day. Most people didn't want to bother with that sort of thing. They just want a happy healthy puppy that is perfect. Our dog Leia had passed a few months before from cancer. She was taking 16 pills a day and had no appetite. If we could get her to do that, we had no problem getting Oreo to take 2 pills a day.
