August 2019 Goals Updated



Financial
- Put 15% into retirement. The 401K is set up
- Grocery Budget of $500 average for the year. Still a little over for the year. 
- Go over our budget with Hubby We do this every month
- Go over the kid's budgets with each of them. Did it.
- Put all of my income in college savings Did it. 

Family
- Bring YD to college We did it and she is loving it. 
- Celebrate my sister's 50th birthday We had a great day 
- Visit OD I am so happy that YD is near OD. I really needed hugs from OD and Ruby after I dropped off YD. 
- Talk with OD and YD at least 5 times a week. I am very lucky that my kids like to talk to me. 

Personal
- Go for walks every other day I did go for lots of walks but I don't know if they were that often. 
- Read 2 books Nope
- Send 2 cards to loved ones Did it. 
- Go for more blood work Did this several times. 

Food
- Do one meatless meal a day.I think I didn't do this 3 times
- Do one day a week with no meat at all. Did it 4 times. 
- Try 2 new recipes.  I did one and Hubby did one so I am counting that. 
- Get another pantry item to 6 months. Spaghetti and paper towels thanks to some awesome clearance. 
- No food waste.  Unfortunately there was. I will try harder this month. 

Cleaning
- Scrub YD's room after she leaves I did it but don't tell her.
- Clean carpet in YD's room after she leaves Not yet

Garden/ Yard
- Plant peas Not yet
- Plant more lettuce seeds I did plant more seeds but I am not sure if it was late July or August. 
- Look into other winter/fall crops I looked and I decided with not feeling well that I'm not doing any extra this year. 

Projects
- Paint hallway Nope!
- Paint shed Didn't happen

I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but that is life sometimes. I will hopefully get more done is September.

    Looks like you did pretty darn good. especially on the family and financial part. Those are the biggies. Good job.

I Quit My Job!

I have been working at a movie theater for the past 13 years. I started when my YD was still at home. I had been babysitting a friend's daughter and she had started school. We needed the money so I got a part time job there for nights and weekends. It worked for us because Hubby watched the kids. I didn't have to pay anyone and I didn't want a stranger watching my kids. When YD started school, I transitioned from nights to days. But I still had to work weekends and holidays.  The movie theater is open 365 days a year. We have only been closed on 1 day since I started, Super Storm Sandy and that was because the state mandated it. We are open every holiday, every snow storm, everyday. When I took the job, I knew that. I signed paperwork saying I would work weekends and holidays, that I had a reliable car and could get there in any weather.  13 years is a long time. I have seen many changes there over the years, some good, mostly bad. There are only 7 people in the theater...
