Grateful April 15

With everything going on with the Corona virus and being in lock down, I thought we could all use a reminder that we are lucky to have all that we do. So I am going to post something I am grateful for everyday while this goes on. I hope you will all join in with me. There is always bad out in the world. Lets shine a light on the good. Stay healthy everyone.

Today I am grateful for my chest freezer and my crock pot. My crock pot is one of most favorite appliances in the kitchen. It makes getting dinner ready easy. I chop everything up, throw it all in, set the temp and timer and it is ready for dinner. When I worked, it was a life saver. Today I was outside weeding and dinner was cooking away.

My chest freezer was a 40th birthday present from Hubby. We don't usually spend a lot on our birthdays but I had been wanting one for years. We of course got it on sale. It is not a huge one but it meets our needs. I went through it this week to get an inventory of what I still had. There was a roast at the bottom that I had gotten on mark down.  So I used my crock pot and cooked it up. I added some carrots, celery leaves and potatoes with seasonings. Homemade bread on the side and it was an easy and delicious dinner.

What are you grateful for today?

  1. Today (as every day) I am thankful we were given the gift of having memories. I have been missing so many lately, and I am blessed to have wonderful memories of them all that I can recall.

    1. Sending your air hugs. I love looking at pictures of everyone we have lost over the years and telling the kids funny stories about them.

  2. On the same vein I am grateful for my crockpot, pressure cooker, microwave, and my dehydrator. All three save me time and money. Plus, the dehydrator and pressure cooker help me put things by for later. I only was able to afford the expensive Excalibur dehydrator because I got a large check when I applied for and got disability. Celery and other things did not waste away in the crisper. Of course, I have not used it for a few years.

    1. I got a dehydrator last year and I love it. Celery went on sale for 99 cents a head and I bought several and did them. They all fit in 1 jar. Definitely a space saver. I hope to get a pressure cooker soon. Right now all I can do is a water bath canner.

    3. A pressure cooker and a pressure canner are not the same thing. Both use pressure but one cooks and one cans. The amount of pressure in a cooker is not as high as that in a canner because the food is not intended for long term storage but in the canner it is. Does this help?

  3. I am thankful for the plumber who came to fix our toilet.
