I have been working at a movie theater for the past 13 years. I started when my YD was still at home. I had been babysitting a friend's daughter and she had started school. We needed the money so I got a part time job there for nights and weekends. It worked for us because Hubby watched the kids. I didn't have to pay anyone and I didn't want a stranger watching my kids. When YD started school, I transitioned from nights to days. But I still had to work weekends and holidays. The movie theater is open 365 days a year. We have only been closed on 1 day since I started, Super Storm Sandy and that was because the state mandated it. We are open every holiday, every snow storm, everyday. When I took the job, I knew that. I signed paperwork saying I would work weekends and holidays, that I had a reliable car and could get there in any weather. 13 years is a long time. I have seen many changes there over the years, some good, mostly bad. There are only 7 people in the theater...
Congratulations on your new blog. I have learned so much since I started mine and it's been a rewarding and enriching experience!
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm another Mary Beth. We've met before, I think at The Prudent Homemaker? This is a pretty blog, I like the white space that makes this easier to read. My website is crowded and dense with words, but I have been writing for a zillion years (not all at this website) - so I guess I HAVE a lot of words.
ReplyDeleteYes, we have met before. I like your website. I think it looks good. I figured I would try blogging out. We will see how it goes. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteWelcome to the Bloggerverse! Be yourself and have fun!!! PS, I added you to my blogroll this morning after I saw your comment on my blog. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much. I only know how to be me. If other people don't like me, Oh well.

ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteYeah, I am so excited, I will always love you because I love my Sluggy
ReplyDeleteThank you. I love Sluggy too. We should give ourselves a name. Maybe Slugaterians? I'll have to work on it.
DeleteHello there.....thank you for directing me your way..:)
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by.
DeleteI know I have read a blog with the same name as yours, so I am puzzled. Nice blog.
ReplyDeleteGood wishes on your blog. College costs are super scary!
ReplyDeleteThank you. We have a plan and are working hard to make sure our kids don't have stupid loans.
DeleteHi! Thanks for stopping by my blog this morning! One daughter got lots of loans for college and we're helping her out by paying half of the payments. My other daughter probably will get loans too for college, but she has her sights set on a community college so it will be a fraction of the first one. VERY manageable! My oldest, a son, never went to college but is learning as he goes.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to checking out your blog!
Some people do wonderful without college. As long as they understand that they are at a slight disadvantage then that is fine. Nowadays everyone makes you think that if you don't go to college it is the end of the world. Thanks for stopping bye.
