My Frugal List: Week of February 25, 2019
The laundry area is done. I love the way it came out. It has so much more storage and is better organized. Hubby and I went to the local curtain store when they were having a sale. We ended up paying $7.95 for each curtain. We got two. The color is called chocolate which is perfect for me. They are a little long so I will need to hem them at some point.
The kids were away for several days. My son went to visit OD in Baltimore. YD went to Florida for a long weekend with my sister. YD won a ticket to Playlist Live(that is where they were) for next year. She was so happy. She has gone the last 3 years and loves it. She gets to see friends that she has made. Everyone had a great time. Including Hubby and me.
We ate out twice while the kids were away. We went to Cheesecake Factory and used a gift card the first night. My leftovers were my lunch the next day. Saturday we were talking about what to make for dinner. I suggested Hubby's favorite burger place. He was sold. It was $18. It is a take out type of place. We brought waters with us and ate in the car since it is about a half hour from our house. We had nothing going on so it was a nice night. All other meals were made at home.
We had some friends over for dinner on Sunday. I cooked 2 of the discount chickens I had gotten a few weeks ago. At the last minute one of the husbands wasn't feeling well so he didn't come. We sent home food for him. My girlfriend made me the most beautiful sunflower quilt. I love it. She also made dairy free chocolate chip cookies for dessert. The other couple brought fruit for dessert.
I made a tray of appetizers for when they showed up. We sat around talking and laughing. It was a wonderful evening.
I received a coupon for a free item in the mail. I also printed out several free coupons. The kids printed them out for me too. I shopped sales and did Ibotta when done.
I sold an item on Craigslist. I listed several items also.
Lots of decluttering has been going on. I gave a bunch of books to my cousin for her sons. She also took some toys. Hubby took more stuff to work for the free section. He also dropped another load to the church. There is so much more room in the basement.
I went to the library and got more books and DVDs. A book I had on order arrived. I love that they get books for me from other libraries so I don't have to drive all over the Island.
I made dog food for Oreo and Lip. They love it.
I earned a $5 gift card from Lucky Day. I play everyday. I have been taking surveys on Swagbucks almost everyday.
What did you do frugal this week?
Great week. What a pretty quilt. Is it a wall hanging or to be used for a table? I never have seen a round quilt. Love it.
ReplyDeleteShe said you could do it either way. I put it on a table.
DeleteHi Mcoia and you bought those curtains so cheaply and they look good. Glad you had a date with your husband and were able to spend quality time together. The quilt is beautiful that your friend made for you.
ReplyDeleteOur savings last week added up to $1641.92 and was more about what we are saving and reusing instead of buying it again.
Finances and listings -
- Paid an additional little over an extra fortnightly mortgage payment saving time and interest on our home loan.
- Listed 7 items free on a fee listing promotion on eBay saving $11.55 on usual listing fees.
Sewing -
- Made curtains for the food storage room and bedroom from fabric purchased on special for $4 per metre saving $52.35 over purchasing them in the shops.
In the kitchen -
- Made all meals and bread from scratch.
- Made 3 loaves of homemade bread for the week saving $10.47 over buying it locally in the stores.
In the gardens -
- Dismantled 1 1/2 large wire enclosed garden beds as the uprights were termite damaged.
- We saved so far about 150 mts of 90 cm heavy duty chicken wire, 50 metres of 25mm galvanised threaded pipe, 40 galvanised pipe fittings, and 6 x 3 m fence posts saving $1579.10 in buying them again.
We will reuse most of this to build a fence to keep kangaroos out and shadecoth structure over our vegetable gardens when we rebuild them closer to our home and town water taps. What we don't use we will sell.
Water preservation -
- Used grey water from the washing machine and pumped from the grey water tank to water fruit and berry trees in our paddock and ornamental potted flowers instead of town water saving water costs.
- Used saved shower warm up water and dish rinsing water to water potted herbs and fruit trees.
I hope everyone had a great week :) .

You had a great week. We always save materials , like you. If I see chicken wire or garden fencing while out, I always grab it. Hubby does too. We can always find a use for it.
DeleteGood deals, I am always amazed at how many people can use and get large coupons from different sites.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I follow several sites that tell me when they are available.
