Poor Ruby

Ruby got hurt. The poor little thing. OD lives in a row house. She has a long thin apartment. Ruby likes to run the length of the apartment which ends in OD's bedroom. The other night Ruby was doing her laps as we call it and she did a loud yelp. OD and her fiance went running over to see what was wrong and Ruby was bleeding pretty badly. They took her right to the emergency vet clinic and 4 hours later were home. She had an x-ray done (nothing was broken) and several staples put in. She is on pain meds and antibiotics. The worst part is the cone. She hates it.

After a few hours of sleep, OD cleaned up the blood. She said it went everywhere. Her fiance found where she cut herself under the bed ( piece of the bed frame) and they fixed it. Being parents is never easy.

Ruby was doing very well until this morning. She managed to get the cone off while OD was taking a shower. Ruby pulled out some of the staples. They went back to the vet ER. She is a puppy and I am sure it has got to be itching her. She is doing OK but needs to keep that cone on her head. They ordered a soft cone that claims dogs can't get off so we will see. They also ordered a sleeve that they can't eat through.  If you don't mind, say a little pray for Ruby that she behaves and doesn't eat her wound again. Also say a little pray for OD and her fiance. They are exhausted.

  1. Oh poor Ruby. They are so fast and can get hurt in a second. I have heard of people cutting pool noodles to use as a makeshift 'cone'. Hope she heals quickly.

    1. Thanks. OD just sent that the vet put a cast on her so she can't bite at the wound. I hope it works.

  2. Poor Ruby. A dog's mission is to get the hated cone off their neck.
