Adding to my Pantry August 2019

I have been adding lots to my pantry recently. The Stop & Shop that is near the man I help has been getting remodeled. They have been having great clearance. I have been going when I leave work for the day. I was getting lots of strange looks the day my cart was full.

I got 7 packs of paper towels. I rarely use them. Hubby likes to have them around. He has gotten them as birthday and Christmas presents.

I paid $1.45 for 8 rolls. This should last Hubby several years.

I got very good dog food marked down. After I talked to my sister I went back another day and got her 2 bags for Lip. So a total of 4 bags.

They were 75% off.

I bought all of the spaghetti that was on the shelf, 21 pounds.

They were 34¢ each.

These 36 count K cups were $6.24 each. I got 5 of them. They will last my son through the end of the year.

These glade sprays were 37¢ each.

I found some low sodium soups marked down.  I will use these when I don't feel well.

2 packs of salad dressings were 87¢.

These were 34¢ each. I will use them this winter in beans and soups.

Almost everyday I pick something from the garden. I love all of my free veggies. Kale is still being frozen. Tomatoes are being made into sauce. Peppers are being frozen. Cucumbers are being made into pickles. Herbs are being dried and canned.

What did you add to your pantry in August?

  1. Wow those are some good prices I can see why you did this. I really should not be shopping at all except for fresh produce as we will be selling house on spring and need to down size to go on a church mission.

  2. Hi Mcoia and sorry I am so late to comment we have been doing renovations in preparation for having our new stove put in :).

Wow you did so well and I would have bought all they had of those bargains too to top up the pantry with too :).

    - Found skin on thigh cutlet fillets on 1/2 price clearance at Woolworths for $3 a kilo and purchased 3.352 kg (these have less bone than drumsticks). On special we also purchased a 2 lt chocolate milk and all up savings on the chicken and milk on usual prices was $10.91. We are trying to stock up our meat freezer with preferably all 50% off meats and gradually stocking up as we are using items.
    - We found one large capsicum (pepper) on clearance also for .80c saving $1.83 on usual prices. These are running out at $7.90 per kilo in the supermarkets. Thank goodness we are getting our gardens planted for spring.

The price of meat has just jumped to extraordinarily high prices here with the droughts and previous floods here. I saw that chicken drumsticks went up to $4.50 - $5 kg here and mince is $10 kg and sausages now $5.56 kg.

Have a great week ahead everyone :).

    1. A new stove is so exciting. I hope everything goes OK. You got some great deals. I have noticed some higher meat prices too. We love to BBQ chicken wings but they have been almost $3 a pound. So we have been eating other parts of the chicken instead. I hope you get rain soon. I know you have rain barrels so I hope you are still OK. Good luck with the garden.

    2. Thank you we managed to get the kitchen bench out ourselves without damaging the wall thank goodness so there is a nice space waiting for our new stove to be installed by an electrician. Hoping the rains come here shortly too.

Wow that is a huge price for chicken wings :o , it could also be the widespread flooding you have had in the States contributing to it. Glad you are able to eat other chicken though and cheaper cuts.

    1. I know. I usually won't waste money on paper towels but Hubby likes them so they are for him. He was very happy.
