Friday Freebies


I won a contest at http://simpleslug.blogspot.com/. My package arrived this week. Thanks again Sluggy. The chocolate is already gone. The kids took the gum. OD will be getting the toothpaste since that is the kind she likes. 


I cashed out Swagbucks and got a $25 gift card to Walmart. I see free shopping in my future.


I also got a $5 gift card to Home Depot from Verizon Up. 


I went to Panera for lunch with 2 friends. I got 2 free drinks for each of my friends. I drank water.  One of them had free cookie coupons so we all got free cookies. I used a gift card from Christmas to pay for my soup. I brought the bread and 1/2 the cookie home. 

Hubby and I went to Cheesecake Factory on a date. I used part of the gift card I received when I left my job. There is more then enough left on it for Hubby and I to go again. 


Youngest daughter brought home the leftover breakfast pizza from a meeting she went to. She can't eat it since it isn't GF. My son and I can. It is eggs, bacon and cheese. 


My sister was coming over to see Lip. She had back to back trips with a day in between. She wanted to see her boy so came over for the day. She brought cold cuts, hummus, carrots and bread for lunch. 


YD loves the single servings of peanut butter for school. My sister saw them at the store and gave them to her. 


My sister took the kids on a Starbucks run. They surprised me with a Caramel Frappe. 

I got a free magazine in the mail. I also went to the library and took out DVDs.

    That's a lot of freebies! My only "freebie" (and, it really wasn't quite) was using companion air fare for Hawaii. I say it wasn't quite free, because it was actually $99, but still a huge savings off of the planned fare.

I Quit My Job!

I have been working at a movie theater for the past 13 years. I started when my YD was still at home. I had been babysitting a friend's daughter and she had started school. We needed the money so I got a part time job there for nights and weekends. It worked for us because Hubby watched the kids. I didn't have to pay anyone and I didn't want a stranger watching my kids. When YD started school, I transitioned from nights to days. But I still had to work weekends and holidays.  The movie theater is open 365 days a year. We have only been closed on 1 day since I started, Super Storm Sandy and that was because the state mandated it. We are open every holiday, every snow storm, everyday. When I took the job, I knew that. I signed paperwork saying I would work weekends and holidays, that I had a reliable car and could get there in any weather.  13 years is a long time. I have seen many changes there over the years, some good, mostly bad. There are only 7 people in the theater...
