Things that are making me happy...

My garden, I just love it. My seedlings are doing great. My tomatoes and lettuce are growing great.  I have fresh kale to eat. I am freezing lots of extra. My peas are growing. Can't wait till everything gets planted at the end of the month.

My puppies! We are watching my sister's dog, Lip, and we have our own, Oreo. I have been getting lots of cuddles and kisses. They are always willing to go on a walk with me. They don't roll their eyes at me. I walk in the door and you would think I was a movie star with the attention they give me. Dogs are the best because they give unconditional love!

Ice cream, do I need to say anything else? I love jamoca almond fudge. Thank you whoever invented it.

Leftovers, I don't need to cook tonight because I cooked lots over the weekend.  Pasta fagioli with a side salad is dinner tonight.

Spring! I'm sitting outside on this beautiful morning eating a bagel and listening to a woodpecker having a great time. I wish I could get a picture of him. I saw a bunny when I let the dogs out this morning. Flowers are blooming looking beautiful. The weather is going to be 70 and sunny. A wonderful day to work outside. I'm off of work so I will be in my yard if anyone needs me. Enjoy the day.

What is making you happy this week?

    1. Any night I don't have to cook is great. I made a double batch of soup and chili over the weekend. Lots will be frozen for future meals.

  4. It has been raining here which makes me happy and we have more clouds and a prediction of more rain this afternoon and into the evening. The reason I am happy is that we haven't had any rain for ages and I am watching our rain water tanks fill up from 1/4 full to 3/4 in one :).

Like your dogs our cat just welcomed us like rock stars when we came in from doing a little shopping another happy moment is finding 50% off clearances or sales on any food we need. She playfully rolls on her back and meows like crazy or races us from the yard u the stairs to the veranda and sounds like a herd of wild wilder beast in action and then rolls for a pat. She is a stealthful hunter so I can only say the thundering of her feet is sheer happiness that we are home.

Also enjoying watching the vegetable seeds that we planted sprouting and getting bigger and the bees from the hives in our back yard merrily pollinating everything and drinking from the saucer we leave at the bottom of the stairs with rocks in it. They are not good swimmers at all.

Life and God is good :) .

    1. Rain is a wonderful thing. I glad that your water tanks are filling up. Is that your only source of water or do you have a well also?

Pets are wonderful. I don't know what I would do without them. You are very correct. God and life is good. Have a wonderful rainy day.

    2. We have both town water, 2 collapsible rain tanks that we have put in ourselves that hold 2200lts of water and we keep bottled water in the house too that we fill up from town water in 10lt containers. We like to keep a backup supply should our town water not be available or in severe water restriction times.

6mm registering for our rain today so far and it is still falling and I would say our tanks are approaching full capacity. We have turned on the tap from main tank into the other tank so we can get the maximum water to equalise between the 2.

    3. Thanks for explaining. So you use town water as a backup and your tanks first to save on the cost of water. Glad you are getting lots of rain.

    4. Hi and all the house water usage is town water which we use but we rely on the rain water tanks to supplement water the newly planted vegetable seedlings and seeds as well as do things like wash our car etc.

We are on permanent water restrictions here and can only water our gardens 3 times a week on designated days. When we plant new vegetable seeds and they sprout they require nursing with daily watering to keep the surface level of the soil wet. Our restrictions are 230lts of town water per person per day and in our rental lease we can use 100 000 litres of town water per 6 months without paying for any additional water ourselves. Although we don't use all that water we try and be conservative in our usage to save our home owners extra expenditure on water and with being so dry here of late we could go to water restrictions of 140lts per person per day which would be hard considering we have lots of vegetable gardens here to water with town water.

Best to practice always being conservative on water to start with in case severe water restrictions come into effect. 10.8mm of rain in the last 2 days we are celebrating and the rain water tanks are almost topped.
