My Mother's Day 2019

Image
I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day. I did. I got to spend the day with Hubby, my son and youngest daughter. They both took the day off of work to be with me. OD and I will celebrate when I see her next.  We did get to talk and she sent me a beautiful card.  My son and YD made me breakfast. YD made chocolate chip pancakes (plain for Hubby) and my son made the bacon. They did the full clean up too.  Oreo got me some flowers for my garden with help from Hubby. Hubby got me a caramel apple with chocolate and peanuts. I love them. I ate it without taking a picture. Both of the kids at home gave me a lunch date with them which is my favorite gift. I love spending time with them.  Hubby made Chicken Marsala with asparagus and pasta for dinner. It is my favorite meal that he makes and it is so good. Both of the kids helped make it and did the whole cleanup. There were plenty of leftovers for the next day's dinner so I didn't have to cook Mo...

Poor Ruby

Image
Ruby got hurt. The poor little thing. OD lives in a row house. She has a long thin apartment. Ruby likes to run the length of the apartment which ends in OD's bedroom. The other night Ruby was doing her laps as we call it and she did a loud yelp. OD and her fiance went running over to see what was wrong and Ruby was bleeding pretty badly. They took her right to the emergency vet clinic and 4 hours later were home. She had an x-ray done (nothing was broken) and several staples put in. She is on pain meds and antibiotics. The worst part is the cone. She hates it.  After a few hours of sleep, OD cleaned up the blood. She said it went everywhere. Her fiance found where she cut herself under the bed ( piece of the bed frame) and they fixed it. Being parents is never easy.  Ruby was doing very well until this morning. She managed to get the cone off while OD was taking a shower. Ruby pulled out some of the staples. They went back to the vet ER. She is a puppy and I am s...

Fundraising for a great cause.

Image
Friday night, Hubby's company held it's annual fundraiser. They try to do a different cause each year. This year they picked  Coastal Steward Long Island . They are a great organization that helps clean up and restore our coast lines, and help educate our kids. It was an amazing event and we had a great turnout of over 150 people. Hubby and I have been helping with the event for several years. We went at 5 pm to help set up. Hubby was in charge of the sound equipment so we had to bring all of that with us. I helped the lady that is in charge of the raffles set everything up. She did an amazing job and got so many great prizes donated.  We had to add extra tables because there were so many prizes.  In addition to baskets filled with stuff they had, Broadway tickets, hotel stays, fishing trips, concert tickets, sports tickets, ax throwing classes, restaurant and store gift cards, and trips to wineries.  The grand prize was a 65 inch 4K Ultra HD TV with...

Happy Mother's Day

To all of the wonderful women out there, Happy Mother's Day. If you are a mom, stepmom, pet mom, aunt, grandma, sister, MIL, work mom, or special female in someone's life, thank you. We need to take care of each other and not be so judgmental. We are all doing the best we can with the situation we are in. Lets lift each other up instead of stepping on each other to get to the top.

Friday Freebies

Hubby needed an item from Harbor Freight. He used a 20% off coupon and a free item coupon. They were out of the free flashlights that we like so he got a free tarp instead. We can always use it.  A friend called and asked if we would like a gallon of milk. They had relatives visiting and had bought milk. They do not drink it and they relative were flying home so they couldn't take it. Of course we will.  My son went to the dentist for his 6 month cleaning. It cost us nothing out of pocket with our insurance. He brought home some goodies.  I got a coupon in the mail for sparkling waters.  Our neighbors got new backyard furniture. They offered us 2 of these chairs. They fit great on the front porch. I just have to clean them up a little.  Hubby and I went to my cousin's engagement party. After dinner they offered everyone leftovers. They had several GF options since several guests were GF. I made a tray up for YD. My mo...

Adding to my pantry

I keep telling you about all of the clearance shelves at Stop & Shop. I thought I would show you some pictures so you get a better idea. There have been up to 6 shelving units at one time. This is the last week and a half. I have been stopping in when I am near by to see what new items are out.  Some days there are shopping carts full of stuff that can't fit on the shelves so you have to dig through the stuff. The items are marked from 25-90 % off. Some of the prices are OK and some are amazing. You have to know your prices.  YD loves cranberry juice.  These were $1,24 each. I've never had pomegranate juice before but for 99¢ each we will try it. These shelf stable soy milks were 54¢ each. I admit I cleared the shelf. I bought all 32. A few days later there were more and I bought all 16. I usually can get 2 of Hubby's soy milks on sale for $5. These work out being $2.16 for the same quantity. Just on the soy milk I saved over $34. Hub...

Things that are making me happy...

Image
* This weather has been beautiful the last 2 days. Spring is really here. It is 65 and sunny. It is the perfect weather in my opinion. I am happy when I am in a t-shirt and jeans. I can work in the garden without a sweatshirt or sweating to death. I know it won't last long but right now it is making me so happy.  * Homemade pizza. Hubby wanted pizza so I made 2 doughs in my bread machine. I cooked a few sausage (that I got on sale) and used up some veggies that were in the drawer and freezer. I also made a cheese one for me. I whipped up a batch of focaccia bread for YD and made her a few slices of pizza on that. There is plenty leftover for an easy lunch. And it didn't cost us a small fortune to order out.  * Hubby took a few days off this week. He is getting lots of items checked off of the honey do list.  * Since Hubby is working hard around the house and yard, I made us milkshakes. He had dairy free strawberry and I had chocolate. They cost me...
